Video gamers enjoy many different types of video games. By far the games they enjoy the most are action games-games in which the player is constantly in action, usually using violent force on characters within the game. Action games are diverse, because there are so many different sub-genres within the action games genre.

Some of these sub-genres include first person shooters, fighting games, wrestling games, space combat games, driving games and horror games, among many other games in the action games genre. Action games are appealing to gamers because they are a lot of fun to play and addictive. First Person Shooters Action Games

There are good first person shooters on pretty much every gaming system around. Here are two worth checking out.

Halo 2

Chances are, if you've played the Xbox, you've heard of Halo 2. In Halo 2, you are a human(dressed up in a suit) with a team of fellow surviving who are trying to save the earth from aliens. You encounter many different problems along the way, making the game somewhat difficult but rewarding. Where Halo 2 shines, though, is in the online gaming department. You can go online and compete against as many as 15 other players. The online game interface is flawless and enjoyable, making Halo 2 one of the best action games.

Gears of War

Gears of War, another first person shooter on Xbox, is not unlike Halo. The whole premise is to defend your city (with help from other people) from enemies, while encountering different problems along the way. Also like Halo 2, Gears of War really shines in the online department. Players can team up in campaign mode to battle enemies online, or they can try to kill each other. Gears of War is not just one of the best first person shooters to come out on the Xbox 360, but also one of the best action games in recent years.

Driving Games

Not all driving games are fun action games, but these two are pretty good.

Project Gotham Racing 3

PGR3, an Xbox 360 exclusive, has been out for over a year now. But it's definitely not one of the outdated action games. In PGR3, a game friendly for gamers of all ages, players drive their cars throughout realistic cities, trying to outrace other cars and gain style points. After players accumulate a certain amount of points, they are able to gradually purchase better cars, until they eventually reach the latter point of the game where they are driving corvettes and other higher end vehicles. PGR3 also offers an online mode in which players can race against people from all over the world. This is definitely one of the better actions games around.

Need for Speed: Carbon

Before the PGR series became popular, Need for Speed was considered the best driving game and one of the better action games, too. While PGR3 is a great game, Need for Speed: Carbon is also pretty good. The PC version of the game offers superb graphics, good gameplay and a nice online mode. Definitely one of the PC action games worth buying.
